This avalanche appears to have been intiated by a loose snow slide from the cliff band above.  Resulting debris triggered a pocket of freshly formed wind slab.

Favored locations in the Skyland area received continuous light to moderate winds today.  The surface snow was dry, light and cohesionless and therefore was easily transported.  Cornince and wind pillow formation occurred throughout the day.
