Toured up Marion lake trail to Essex Mountain. * -15F when we left the truck at 10am with low to no winds slight overcast sky * ski tracks from Thursday and Friday were clearly visible on both sides of the lake. * No Name peak had many loose dry slides that looked several days old. * Top 2" of snow pack had slab like properties with unconsolidated snow underneath. * Had one shooting crack 15" when traversing the ridge of Essex Mountain * Skied west facing aspect steep and rocky up to 45° with loose dry snow running but not propagating. * Wind picked up and snowfall became heavy around 2pm.
