Glacier Park tour

Many Glacier to Lake McDonald traverse in Glacier Friday night through Monday (3/22-3/25):

• Colder temps and consistent wind on the east side of the divide, paired with considerably less snow (all blown away during the February arctic intrusions?) left a fairly shallow yet supportable cold cohesive snow-pack above 5500' on all aspects except south.
• Refreezes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights offered quality supportable crust cruising in the alpine (above 7k') on both sides of the divide. A light dusting Sunday night offered excellent blown-in turns on Sperry Glacier yesterday.
• Nearly all slopes on southern aspects at all elevations had shed loose wet avalanches, some of which gouged to the ground (generally in cliff zones). Only a few of these triggered a handful of wet slabs generally in smaller pockets (D2 mostly with one D3 above Hidden Lake). The slab avalanches appeared to have released a day or two before we arrived given the melted condition of the debris piles and crowns averaged ~70cm depth (possibly on a 2/2 crust?).
• Completely isothermic toil slop below 6k' coming out the Sperry trail yesterday. We crossed numerous (10 or more) D2+ wet loose/wet slab/maybe even glide avalanches that scraped to the ground and devoured the burned forest with them. These also appeared to have run Friday or earlier given the melted debris... Many of these slides were in locations I had never seen avalanches in previous spring Sperry trips.
