Professional Observation- solid re-freeze in the Swan Range

Today we rode into the Swan Range from Hungry Horse Dam.  

• We found a solid re-freeze from the valley floor to the Swan crest.
• The south aspects corned up around noon, and were superb for travel until 3:30 when we left.
• True north aspects held 4-6 inches of light snow from the last storm. The snow surface on this aspect never warmed up enough to form rollerballs, or even snowballs.  We did get minor sluffing on steep terrain on these aspects.
• We did not see any evidence of recent avalanches(from the last 24 hours) on any aspects.  The avalanche cycle from last week didn't seem to be quite as extreme in the Northern Swans.  We saw several wet/loose and a few wet slabs that had pulled out, however, nothing near as dramatic as other locations.  
• We rode on steep terrain, all aspects and above 6000' with no signs of instabilites. 
• Exposed southern ridgelines are beginning to open up with lots of bare ground showing on these slopes.
