Today we went to the Swan Range to look at the snowpack, and any recent wind drifting, following Tuesday's storm. We found good riding in sheltered, middle elevation terrain on north aspects. Our new snow has quickly begun to facet on sheltered aspects with crusts just starting to form in steep southerly terrain. Our old snow that had seen rain prior to the Tuesday event is now a series of stout crusts and felt well bonded. We observed a handful of sluffs on sunny slopes that occured previously, as well as throughout the day. The largest occured at roughly 2 pm today. These slides appeared relatively small in size, but did have the potential to push someone over a cliff band or into trees if caught.
Travels took us into the Noisey Basin, Mount Aeneas area.
We saw 4 or sluffs come out of upper elevation southerly aspects. Timing on these were sometime in the last 24 hours.
