We headed for Fielding Creek looking for a nice day out, and looking to avoid low elevation solar aspects and the cornices hanging over them. Significant flagging on peaks in JFS canyon and in the Marias Pass area alerted us to strong winds and loading in the alpine that continued throughout the day. Solar aspects (SSE) around 6600ft were getting somewhat cooked by noon; our exit to Fielding Cr had a half inch wind skin up top but was unaffected lower down. A pit on a roll near the top of that aspect yeilded no failures or propagation. Temperatures started cold, and got quite balmy in sheltered areas, potentially above freezing.
We saw only minimal point release activity on surrounding peaks and while driving back to the Flathead, with most being showers of roller balls.
