Today we skied down from the Mt.Brown lookout following the skin track. The skiing conditions on Mt.Brown was crust. The skiing was good but difficult. We noticed that the snow had a layer of crust, possibly because of the wet snow freezing overnight, and underneath that crust was less dense snow. In the lower elevation zones, we would punch through surface crust and would sink into the less dense snow about 4 to 5 inches deep. On our way up Mt. Brown we noticed a few considerably sized pin wheels and a few smaller D1 wet-loose avalanche paths from the day before. Once we were on the top ridge, we noticed larger wet-loose slides in the distance - perhaps D2-3. We also heard whoomping while traversing the ridge to the lookout. Throughout the day there was moderate to extreme wind. Overall it was good day.
