Well that was terrible

We went to the southern tip of the forecast area to get some sunshine and powder turns on our day off. Couldn't help taking a closer look at the snowpack while we were at it.

• Conditions matched the recent snowpack update fairly well. We saw blowing snow on the surrounding peaks above 7,000'. West aspects were scoured and east to northeast aspects had recent wind deposits above about 5,500'. I stomped on a particularly open and favored slope at 5,500' and triggered a small wind slab.
• Dug a quick snow pit on a northeast aspect at 6,500' and found a dry, shallow snowpack with a few layers beginning to facet, but no concerning test results.
• Small surface hoar had developed on all aspects and elevations, but was either baked on sunny slopes or knocked over and broken from recent winds. I didn't see it in tact anywhere, but maybe it survived in areas we didn't travel. 
• We descended an east aspect which is consistently shaded this time of year and found that the recent snow sits on top of a melt-freeze crust and is faceting.

We were comfortable riding steep, sheltered slopes without wind-deposited snow. Our only concern was the low tide conditions and snow sharks lurking below about 6,000'.
