Quick Observation

Toured up the Camas Drainage for a few days. The snowpack was the usual facet-crust-depth hoar except for a few terrain features. Most noticable was a crown on an east aspect above 8000', nearby a wind pillow was seen on a NE aspect at the same elevation. We found hard wind slabs on NE aspects above 6500', where these were present we stayed on slopes 30 degrees or less. On sunny aspects/elevations a spring-like snowpack can be found and so could corn skiing. The snow was consolidated with a melt-freeze crust. There were small areas where this melt-freeze crust was present on facets on another crust.
