After opting not to deal with the ice skating rink that is the jewel basin road we opted to head a bit further north. At higher elevations we found about 25 cm of new snow on top of breakable crust. ECTN12. There we a slight density change making it a tad upside down but skied nice and creamy. Again, surprisingly minimal wind all afternoon and lack of wind effect in the snow in our northwest and east aspects. Of note, even at 6700' there was only 115 cm total depth of snow.
