A snowmobiler climbed a steep face to a ridgeline. During his descent of this slope, he hit a tree and lost control of his machine. The machine tumbled down the hill, initiating the slide from approximately mid-slope. The individual broke his arm from the impact of the tree but was not injured by the slide. He may have been carried a short distance down the hill but was not buried and walked down the hill under his own power.
