Swan River State Forest

Quick outing to assess access for spring field work:

• 3-6 inches of dry snow on top of melt-freeze crust.  This became cohesive in the afternoon where exposed to the sun.
• Crust on Northerly aspects ranged from over 1' at 5500' down to 4" at 6500'. 
• South aspects were pretty well burned off up to 5500'
• Sheltered segments of the road on South aspects were still holding up to 2 ft of snow.  
• Northerly aspects at 5000' had 3' of snow.
• Road had several debris piles including a D3 reported earlier this season. 
• Noted one glide crack on Southwest aspect
• Blowing snow was moderate to intense from the Northeast
