Soggy walk

Today we went up to check on the Tunnel Ridge weather station and see how the early season snowpack is shaping up. Overall it was a great day for a wet bushwhack. Emphasis on the wet. 

• Thin and variable coverage exists on all aspects above ~4000 feet (See first and second photos). The average depth was 10 to 14 inches at 6300 feet. 
• Consistent rain turned the existing snowpack into one homogenous layer of wet snow. The snow was saturated enough that runnels developed (See third photo). Creeks are still open and running.
• We were not able to confirm how high the rain line was, but we are certain it was raining on surrounding ridges at 6900 feet. 
• Moderate winds with no snow to transport at our elevation due to rain.
