We too placed an order before last call on the Camas Road, aiming to look for surface hoar and evidence of wind slabs.

• The weakest snow we found was on southerly, mid-elevation slopes scoured by the past month's winds. The snowpack on these slopes was shallow (<30-40 cm) and consisted of a dense slab of drifted snow over well-developed depth hoar. This structure seemed dormant at the moment. We still avoided steep slopes likely to harbor it on our descent, despite the fact that they had the least boosh and offered the most open terrain. 
• The easterly slopes where we traveled (NE-E-SE) did not harbor surface hoar, even in spots favorable for surface hoar growth like marshes. The Arctic air may be too dry. We did not, however, get onto mid-elevation, northerly slopes. Too cold.
• We did find a layer of immature surface forest that made for some interesting travel. 
• Thick drifts and pillows line the northerly sides of ridges. They were not reactive where we stomped on them. We found some wind-packed snow and light drifting from overnight winds. Nothing extensive enough or deep enough to be a hazard.
