Quick Observation

Our party of 6 toured into the side country of WMR to assess snow conditions at our high point of 6500'

  • Noted a few instabilities within the recent storm snow (~10cm) along ridgeline, especially in steeper terrain (loose snow sluffing was occuring within the top 5-10cm on a graupel layer)
  • No remarkable results within our pits on both N/S aspects. We did initiate a few failures on recently buried crusts at varying depths, but these were non-propagating and generally failed with moderate-hard force.
  • Skies were overcast and temperatures remained below freeezing throughout the duration of our tour; winds were calm.
  • Descended a SW aspect in anchored terrain (~35*) with great riding conditions
