Beat on shovel until my hand hurt, never got 90cm column to move cohesively on 100cm ice layer.
However, two 30cm column tests had exact same result.
CT4 @ 20 cm below surface
CT24 @ 100 on ice layer, SP and slid a few cm on collapse in both columns.
Wandered off towards Ghoulies today searching for somewhere to see the effect of all this wet snow on our snowpack. Kept dry in my trusty Flathead Nordic Backcountry Patrol jacket I identified a decent spot to assess snowpack. Saturated. The new snow overnight was slightly less dense than expected but still only about 20 cm from over an inch SWE. It could be rideable though still chose to skin back most of way to resort and prepare to go bowling.
