There is a lot of variability in the upper 3 feet of the snowpack. We have a variety of crusts from the month of January that include:

Jan. 12 rain crust with facets and decomposing surface hoar about 2 inches below that.

Jan. 17 rain crust with weak snow above and below it

Jan. 28 rain crust with weak snow above and below it

Pit 1, 6800 ft., NNE aspect, 30º slope, 4/8 cloud cover, S -1 very intermittent, Calm wind, Air Temp= -10ºC, Boot Penetration=50cm.

Total Snow Depth (HS) = 250cm
