Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

During extended column tests at an elevation of approximately 5,700 on an easterly face a propagation failure was observed at a depth of approximately 9 inches.  The bed surface of the failure contained graupel snow with a relatively firm, cohesive snow pack above the failure depth.  It took signficant force to initiate the failure.
