Storm slabs at Marion Lake

We found dangerous storm slab avalanche conditions above 5,500' and shallow sluffing below that.   

• About 6" of relatively dense new snow overnight, and moderate to heavy (S2 to S5) snowfall ramping up this afternoon. 
• Stability tests produced propagating results (ECTPM, ECTPH) on multiple slopes, 35 to 40 cm deep, on a mid-storm, low-density layer.
• Minor cracking and soft collapses on our ascent.   We triggered one small slab on a steep rollover, and got one shooting crack, 15" deep, on our first descent
• Ski cuts/stomps above suspect start zones did not produce any results until our last descent, where we triggered a 1-foot soft slab that ran 1,600 vertical feet and triggered several other slabs along the way. The debris was easily large enough to bury someone.  
• No natural avalanche activity observed through the day
