Toured up and over Mt Aneas and through the Jewel Basin finding a wide variety of snow conditions (wind board, wind slab, powder, ice crust and wind scouring) on N, W and E aspects. Had mild cracking under foot. Wind board and slabs were evident both in open areas, ridgelines and sub alpine areas. no evidence of recent avalanche activity, though could be obscured by all the wind transport. Overall a near windless sunny day, though little solar effect seen (however we did exit in the early afternoon).
