Another slab bites the sluff

We were unable to find buried surface hoar or crust/facet combos in the narrow elevation band we traveled today. Previous and current slope use is breaking up the already shallow storm slab and has probably broken up the distribution of the weak layers buried on 1/17 - at least in the immediate vicinity of the resort. Several small column tests failed sudden planar at the new/old interface down 15cm and at the density change in the storm snow (down 10cm). ECTN 5 at the 10cm density change, but the slab is too shallow to get propagating results. That matches what we found on test slopes: fracture initiation, but not propagation. Looking across the Canyon it looked as though there may have been some small debris near the bottom 1/3 of the western-most Skook Chute, but the flat light made it hard to tell.
