Today, we headed for WMR with the goal of skiing over near Lockaleel Ridge. Parking in what seemed to be the Balkans and busy lifts saw us atop Skook near noon, so we kept it more local and made excellent hot lunch at the bottom of a lap.
Snow densities were certainly higher today over yesterday, and this combined with moderate to strong winds to leave much of the upper section of Skook face a lovely shade of windslab. We observed numerous collapses on low angle, SW facing terrain while breaking trail up (6600ft or so). North aspects were far more consistent in snow density and lack of wind affect. West aspects just above Fiberglass Hill still harbored a very stubborn crust, buried under crossloaded snow of variable depth.
