Ain't the Sierra but it was okay today

We were pleasantly surprised to find a supportable surface which allowed us to boot pack from 3500' - 7600'. The descent was equally good with a frozen surface above 7000', drifts of dry snow interspersed with scoured areas harboring corn above 5500, and corn below there.

• We observed a hard slab avalanche triggered by a cornice fall on a NE aspect at 6900'. The debris ran 2500' but entrainment was limited due to a worked-over surface.
• A recent thin wind slab was noted on a NE aspect at 7200'. 
• Today's strong solar input triggered numerous D1-1.5 wet loose slides in fresh snow on NE and SE aspects.
• We followed grizzly tracks along the length of the approach trail. A sure sign of spring in the Crown of the Continent.
