All in all you're just another grain in the wall
-Conducted Full Test Profile East of WMR. No cracking or collapsing was noted during the day. Sky cover went from CLR to OVC by mid day, and temps increased to -3.5C by 1300 at 6550'.
-On approach to site we noticed strong SW winds blowing in the Flathead Range with plumes coming off of Great Northern and Mt. Grant. Guess there was still plenty of snow to transport at mid and upper elevations.
-Test Results for the day on a 64 degree aspect : CT22 Q2/PC @176cm, CT23 Q2/PC @176, ECTN22 @176, and PST 99/100 (end) down 31cm on 20220127.
-SH layer was easily visible and the site of all test failures. The layer was a little more stubborn than expected with several human triggered avalanches less than .25 miles away. SH was still standing within the layer (see photo), but hadn't grown to the larger size that I witnessed on 20220127 on nearby slopes.
-Below SH layer, the slab was unreactive, and at times challenging to dig through. The 12/3 crust was still supporting the mostly pencil hard slab filled with rounded grains. Faceted crystals were noted along the surface of this crust layer.
-No thoughts were controlled.
