Quick Observation
Another nice Middle Fork tour in the sun.
Winter briefly returned with 2 inches of overnight snow and cloudy skies.
By mid-morning, the sun was out and the snow surface warmed to 4-5" of moist snow on crust.
Calm winds, mostly clear skies, and sun made for a perfect recipe for gloppy skins up to 6800’.
We skied a northern aspect trying to maximize the shaded areas holding soft snow, while minimizing sunny patches of sun-affected heavier snow.
We observed no new avalanche activity, despite the warming temperatures.
