Quick Observation
Travelled to Big Slide expecting to find glide cracks and corn snow with a dusting of recent snow.
Did not see glide cracks, yet.
Found a 25cm plus thick pencil hard frozen corn crust with a dusting of new snow that was up to three cm deep on leeward sides of sub ridges.
Boot packing was painless, with boot penetration of about 10 cm.
Great corn snow skiing top to bottom, and all the way down to Haskill Basin for that matter.
Observed D1 loose wet debris from 3/24 at bottom of Big Slide and on SW - facing slope on other side of creek.
No natural or skier triggered loose wet activity observed today.
On shady slopes between 5500 and 6500' boot penetration was boot-top to knee, with weak snow sandwiched between several near-surface crusts. Forgetting to pack skins is one way to get familiar with the upper snowpack.
