Toured out of the resort today. Temps were cold. Wind wasn't as bad as forecasted. Snowed pretty hard til about 1:00. Pit results showed about 20cm of unconsolidated snow. This obvious layer of new snow, or snow that had all the moisture sucked out with this cold weather, was very light and dry. It was quick to move on steep terrain. We skied 2 south facing runs on different zones and didn't find any wind slab. Lots of sluffing. Steep tree wells up the skin track, rollers or anything that was steeper than 30 degrees on the runs. It was easy to manage but could push you into trouble if you're not paying attention. Look up behind you when you ski!
Felt the temperature drop pretty quickly around 3pm. Definitely really cold in the late afternoon and was happy to have extra layers. Frostbite was a concern.
