Cracklin' Noisie

We made a plan to continue work on the Mt. Aneas weather station and feel out the new storm snow:

• We encountered two small, natural slab avalanches that failed during the storm.
• We observed widespread shooting cracks and collapsing especially between 5000' and 6500' and in wind affected terrain.
• Our party remote triggered a small cornice on a test slope from 50' away.
• Slabs were soft and generally 4-6" thick.
• Hand pits revealed the weak structure we've been documenting over the last two weeks:  facets above and below the early November crust.

We elected to group ski down a ridge then picked our way through a short, treed slope (~30 degrees) noting more cracking and minor sluffing. We skied off into the sunset with dry snow down to 4000'
