Crusts getting buried

Obs from a brief and limited tour east of WMR:

• One small and harmless triggered slide, a loose dry sluff, that took some effort to trigger. Steep, convex test slope at 6450 feet. Ran in the storm snow, possibly at the interface below this morning's snow. 
• Tests on a southeast-facing slope at 6600 showed several potential failure planes withing the top ~70 cm of the snowpack. No propagating failures, and one sudden failure; the rest were planar. All required moderate force.
• The MLK ice lens is buried about 50 cm below the surface (easterly and westerly slopes); tests produced a sudden collapse or planar failure about 5 cm below the crust. This was the most eye-catching layer, though I couldn't find persistent grains looking at the blocks. 
• Several other planar shears or breaks above the MLK crust, one on a graupel layer about 20 cm below the surface and another a few cm below that. Not sudden failures. The snow above all the failures was 4F-4F+ hard.
• The 1/24 event left some percolation tubes and other melt-freeze mess below it, but didn't act as a distinct failure plane. It was relatively soft at this elevation and not consistent. I suspect it didn't extend much higher. 
• No whumpfing or cracking. We didn't investigate many slopes steep enough to slide. 

We felrt comfortable skiing planar slopes less than 35 degrees. I'd investigate the near-surface failure planes more fully before committing to steep, rocky terrain or if they get much more additional load.
