Got a late start so snowmobiled to Noisy Basin and did quick skin and pit. SW of generator on 27 degree slope. 275 cm total depth Ice crust 25cm deep, just under 1cm thick. Less thick in other spots of the pit. Another ice crust at 85cm broke apart fairly easily. No facets noticed at either ice crust. Failed shovel shear at 50cm, Q3, on a 4f to 1f layer change CT no propagation ECTN 13, no propagation but collapsed below upper crust. Just a quick ski back to the sleds so didn't access steeper terrain.
