After the sled trailer broke and all our other good ideas succumbed to the PWLs on N and E aspects, we opted for the simplicity of the pick up sticks on Mt. Brown. Temps alterated between cold (3 F in the parking lot) to balls cold (in light NE winds at the lookout). Some sun poked through, but largely it the cloud cover kept things chilled and sent down a trace of snow. Ridgetops saw wind-affected, filled-in skin tracks.
We elected to keep our angles mellow and found good snow despite fairly heavy traffic in the zone. It seems that where not wind-affected, the most recent storm snow is not a cohesive slab and seems relatively well bonded to the crust immediately below it.
