Double Dipping at Marion

Ventured out of Essex for a another ski tour to see if the frigid cold calm night would result in "P cubed"... Perfectly, Preserved, Powder

• Climbed above Marion Lake along the ridge leading to 7798.
• Noted significant surface hoar development, which was most pronounced on top of the ridge where crystals were up to 1.5cm in size.
• At ~7350 we dropped into our first run around 11am. We selected a due East facing chute into the bowl above Marion Lake. Excellent riding condtions. No notable instabilities observed.
• We hopped back on our skin track for a second run.
• We gained the ridge up to the ~7250 shoulder and we descended the SE facing gully into Essex Creek at 1pm. Excellent riding conditions.
• We noted the due south facing slopes above the lower portion of the gulley (below ~5700' had released some wet loose debris into the gully on Monday afternoon.
• We continued to note wet loose debris on lower elevation south facing terrain as we exited the drainage.
• For the same reason that riding conditions were great today, I would be wary of tomorrow... The surface snow from Sunday evening has remained very cold and dry above treeline, leaving it readily available for transport with tonights forcasted winds.
