Skiing above marion lake, outside of Essex. Planned on skiing the north face above the lake. Snowpack was stable with 4+ new inches of snow on the Northern aspects. Decided to ski terrain steeper than 35*, feeling confident in the snow pack. Wanted to avoid sunnier aspects to mitigate wet sluffing, which was seen across the valley on the southern aspects. While skiing a rider was swept off his feet due to dry sluffing that occured in a gully. Choose terrain carefully, there is still dangers with new snow falling.
Rider caught and carried about 75' downslope. Came away with a rolled ankle. 2nd chute to the skier's left of the incident slide naturally, D1.
