Pit dug on west facing slope at approximately 6800 feet, total depth 230 cm. 1/9 rain crust noted at 85 cm, large facets just below this layer. ECTP 5, Q2 at 180 cm, failure on storm slab. Shovel sheer was surprising and failed at storm slab. Noted sun crust and roller ball sluff on east facing slopes at 6800 feet down to approximately 5000 feet where snow became saturated and spring-like with small wet sluffing. Noticed signs of avalanche activity on steep slopes at higher elevations. Skied ridge line, which was heavily treed and mellow angle.
