Hwy 2 access not an option, due to complete lack of snow coverage (see 2nd photo). Drove up NF1638 toward gravel pit until snow started and parked there. Elevation 4200 feet continued lack of snow coverage on either side of the road. Paola creek is running high and crossing was not an option. Snow pack on the other side of the creek was much deeper if you can get across the creek. Off and on graupel falling most of the morning, our tracks were filled in coming down. Little to no wind at lower elevation, temp. hovered around freezing. Lots of moose tracks!
