Two avalanches that ran to the rail during these two days: First in a path known as Second Slide on the evening of the 21st and a second avalanche the following afternoon in a path known as the "Java Gauntlet" (photo). More details under Avalanche tab.
Details lacking on this avalanche in Second Slide. But it ran to the rail at about 20:30 and put about 4-5' of debris on Main 1 (about 40' wide). Even the next day during daylight hours I could not find a crown associated with the debris.
Observed from Hwy 2 around 1430. Debris stopped just short of the rail (about 2-6' deep). Really this appeared to be about 1/2 dozen smaller avalanches with crowns extending about halfway across this low-elevation path (a long cut-bank). Visited the crown of one of these slides on March 2nd and confirmed failure layer was some faceted snow just above the Jan. 13th crust.
