Quick Observation

Toured in the Flathead Range today to enjoy new snow, calm conditions, and sunshine

Overnight storm totals ranged from 6-8" throughout the elevation bands
Calm conditions persisted throughout the day. E/N winds were evident on windward terrain last evening/early morning, although minor effect
Point release, loose-dry sloughing were noted in localized, steep terrain at all elevations
Solar input was evident on S facing aspects up to our high point of 7400' (surface was moist with rollerballs)
Sunshine was replaced with a stratus layer around 1300 keeping temps cool
Solar aspects quickly developed a friable crust as the sun disappeared
We comfortably skied E aspects between 7400-5500' in boot top powder
