Quick Observation

Traveled up to the head of McGee Creek to get a sense of riding prospects

Measured snow depth at 6,000 ft on a southeast aspect (55cm) and northwest aspect (75cm)

Dug a pit at 6,400 ft on a northeast aspect. There was 76cm of snow. The top 7cm was cohesionless surface hoar and near-surface facets. The mid pack was also heavily faceted and seemed to get progressively more dense towards the ground. Probing revealed a few old crust layers that have mostly decomposed. The bottom 20cm was weak old snow composed of large facets.

Surface hoar was widespread above 5,500 feet

Ridgetop winds were 0-5 mph at 2pm
