Here come old cold front

Here come old cold front
New snow fallin down quickly
Wind blow snow in you eyeball
Sun set snowball rollers
He put drifts on the lees
Got to be a cold front he just do what he please

• Cold front through WMR area mid-late morning. Heavy snow and powerful winds before abrupt clearing. Gusty winds intermittently after that, with blowing snow that filled in tracks until about midday.
• 8-10" dense snow above eggshell rain crust from New Year's. Some easy hand shears above and below, short cracking (<1m) around skis.
• Drifts and slabby feeling snow on lee slopes, but no cracking, collapses, or triggered slides on test slopes or sheltered slopes. Did not spend too much time stomping. 
• One drifted-in crown on steep, rocky rollover at 6000 ft (southeast facing), likely older than this storm.
• Sun produced rollerballs on steep, easterly slopes at ~6000 feet. These did not coalesce into sluffs. Also left a thin, fragile sun crust on southerly slopes. 
• Below about 5500', the storm snow was moist and heavy but supportable.
