Quick Observation

We skied in Hay creek drainage today in the northern whitefish range saw no obvious signs of instability. We found soft snow above a crust, minimal wind transport, and a thin wind skin developing within 100 feet of the ridgeline. Winds increased as temperatures dropped around 12:30 PM and snow started around 1:00pm. Surprising good skiing on southerly aspects… but it was variable and very specific to aspect.
