Today we went into the Flathead Range to get feel for the size and sensitivity of wind slabs.
The decision was easy to avoid all avalanche-prone terrain that was getting loaded by winds. We traveled on ridgelines and stuck to sheltered slopes on our descent.
Two avalanches were remotely triggered while approaching ridgelines from further back. Others were with small cornice triggers. All slopes we triggered were small test slopes. We never approached any larger terrain.
