"I didn't get a blister on my blister so that's good"

Enjoyed the tail end of this high pressure system up high in the Southern Flathead Range.
 

• Limited solar warming today due to high cloud cover and cool temps. Temps hovered between -6C and -1C most of the day.
• Observed numerous (20+) loose wet slides from the past couple days on steep S-SW facing terrain between 6200-7200'. Most of these slides were relatively small and appeared to be triggered by tree plops.
• Snowpack on on some of higher peaks has been signifcantly decimated by wind and sun recently. Predominantly on the upper 500' of west faces. (two pictures attached)
• Wind were calm below ridgetops and moderate up high today (15-25mph from the west). North/Northwest facing slopes are still harboring cold/dry/faceting powder snow and we observed some light windloading up high transporting snow off of NW facing slopes.
• We skied steep NW facing terrain today and found excellent riding conditions and good stability from 8000'-5600'. Some minor sloughing was occuring on 45 degree pitches.
• We did not observed a lot of Surface Hoar today on our particular route, which had us traveling mostly uphill in forrested areas and open south facing terrain. However while decending the valley bottom we observed very large widespread surface hoar from 5600' to 3600'. As one would expect, the largest formations were observed in close proximity to the creek or springs. (50+mm feathers/wedges)
