Quick Observation

Traversed the Apgar range on Monday:

- Once on the ridge the temperature never dropped below freezing, the breeze and partial cloud cover helped keep the snow cool.

- Saw no recent crowns or avalanches. Found only one recent cornice failure. The cornices south of Fern Creek were considerably larger than in the northern part of the range.

- Found a breakable rain crust surface everywhere that wasn’t protected by trees. The crust was thicker south of Fern Creek.
