Skied in Jewel Basin today, digging a pit at about 7000' on a 30-degree west-facing slope that emptied into the Camp Misery parking lot. Observed two prominent buried crusts at about 35cm and 70cm in an otherwise right-side-up snowpack (pictured). Compression test resulted in an CT 14 at the 35cm layer and CT 17 at the 70cm layer. ECTP 22 but with relatively little "pop" -- not falling into our laps as obervers on other aspects have noticed.
Observed significant surface hoar development on all aspects. Western-facing slopes at around 5800' had developed a bit of a crust from yesterday's bluebird conditions.
