Quick Observation
Spent the day in the southern half of the Jewel Basin WSA.
The access road is horrendous, bring your Chiropractor along.
Strong ridge top winds, with moderate winds from valley bottoms to ridge tops everywhere we went.
1" of new snow.
Snow surface varied from localized hard slabs along the ridge lines to a <6" soft slab on all aspects and elevations overldying lower density snow. Difficult to find unconsolidated snow.
Skiing was good none the less. Ski penetration was about 10", which made for reasonalble trailbreaking.
We skied a variety of aspects and slopes up to 40+*.
Saw some localized small/<6" soft slab releases overlying lower density snow. These were from earlier in the week and only ran short distances.
Saw no signs of avalanches or snow instabilities during the days tour.
