Quick Observation

A large avalanche ran sometime since yesterday afternoon (May 9) on the east face of Heavens Peak with debris running all the way down to McDonald Creek. Unfortunately we could not view the starting zone today due to cloud cover, but we suspect this was a large glide avalanche. The pile of debris on the western bank of McDonald Creek was well over 20 feet tall (photos). A few small chunks of debris made it across the creek as well. We will send in more information and photos when we can view the starting zone.
