Lost Johnny but found a collapse

Looking for avalanche activity and signs of instability in the Swan Range. The snowpack is giving confusing and mixed messages.

• Good views of numerous mid and upper elevation avalanche paths with no signs of avalanche activity from the last storm.
• Despite non-propagating test results at several locations, we triggered a loud collapse while digging a pit. The collapse was on one of several facet layers sandwiched between crusts about 2.5’ deep on a south-facing slope near 6000'.
• Winds were transporting some snow at upper elevations and we triggered a couple of harmless wind slabs in obvious drifted areas near ridgelines.
