Toured into the Marion Lake Resort area today. Over 2+ feet of fresh snow in many areas. Obvious crust layer about 14" from the surface at elevations below ~6,000ft. Dug a pit at 6,500ft elevation, east northeast aspect, 35 degree slope, snow pack depth of 320cm (10.5 feet!). Easily popped the side columns off of our ECT with the shovel at 65cm (25") from the surface (~Q2). However, the ECT produced results of ECTNR on both sides of the block. The obvious crust layer from below 6,000ft was not evident in our pit. A very obvious 1" crust layer was found at 145cm from the surface. Snowed the entire day with the snowfall rate becoming very heavy by 4pm. There was easily 7-8" of new snow on our vehicle when we returned. No wind during the day and decent visibilty. The skiing was meh;)
Of note, on the drive home through the Middle Fork at roughly 5pm the snowfall increased and we observed extreme wind speeds (large trees bending; visibilty reduced to less than 100ft).
