Middle fork

Day off trip into the Middle Fork to seek out more cold snow. 

• A little over 2 feet of snow above 1/13 crust up to 6k.
• Dug a handful of quick hand pits on northwest and west facing terrain. The weak layer appeared to have a larger hardness step above roughy 5700'. 
• New snow is settled pow and no observed avalanches out of steep, upper elevation terrain.
• No cracking, collapsing, or whumping. 

We sought out west facing terrain vs. the other options of east and north.
