Toured in the Flathead Range further east along Highway 2 today, starting at 4,000 feet up and ending around 7,000 feet. It snowed moderatly all day and temperatures likely hovered around 30 degrees. There were 3-4 inches of new snow and surprisingly sort of fun skiing for the first thousand feet of our descent. The crust underneath the new snow was supportable and forgiving. We kicked off some predictable sluffage, but nothing concerning. Winds were 10-15 MPH near/on the ridge at around 7,000 feet and there was minimal wind loading and no obvious wind slabs. The crust on the NE facing slopes was noticably softer than north facing. Noticed debris from several old avalanches.
